  Met a friend here for lunch. Great spot overlooking the water in beautiful Mattapoisett. I am a history geek, so I really liked the building which dated from the 1790's, and found the food, and service well above par. I have trouble saying no to Italian food, so I got the house-made pasta and meatballs. Absolutely delicious! I also heard of a particular neighbor who doesn't much care for the restaurant and calls it a "nightclub" atmosphere. This could not be farther from the truth. Shame on the neighbor, the restaurant has been there since 1799! This story was told to us by our bartender as we ate at the bar. This spat has led to their slogan "defend the porch" a figurative and literal jest at the persons next door. Great place, I've heard EVERYTHING on the menu is great, as the friend I met with, had sampled it all.
